Grocery Sales Power Walmart Growth

Walmart reported strong same-store sales growth in the second quarter, the largest increase in nine years, fueled by its grocery business.
The food business continues as a bright spot, said Moodys Investors Service Inc. analyst Charlie OShea.
Comparable sales at U.S. stores rose 4.5% in the three months ended in July, reported Bloomberg (Aug. 16). Another bright spot in the second quarter was the Sams Club warehouse chain, which saw same-store sales increase 5%, the strongest quarter in six years.

Partnering with new brands takes time, Lore said, but the company is already seeing heightened traffic to certain parts of the site.
